Big pharma in Basingstoke?

Basingstoke and Deane Council has announced plans to release funds from its growth initiative to develop an office building, which will house the UK headquarters of a prominent American pharmaceutical company.

The UK base for Eli Lilly & Company is the first to be delivered through the council's Invest to Grow Fund, which was established in 2016 to stimulate commercial and infrastructure developments in the area.

The 4,200sq m building will be delivered by developer Muse, and construction will begin in late 2018, dependent on planning permission.

Speaking to Sitematch, Kate Dean, project director Basing View and commercial at Basingstoke & Dean Council said: "We are delighted that this pre-let deal is set to keep one of Basingstoke’s most important and long-established international companies in the town. This purpose-built new modern headquarters follows hot on the heels of The Florence Building and is the first forward-funded deal through the council’s Invest to Grow Fund that will help retain high-value jobs in the borough and secure Basingstoke's position as a key location for business in the south east."

Basingstoke and Deane Council attended Sitematch London in February 2018 to meet with developers and investors. For more details on next year's event, contact Josie Brewer on 020 7978 6840.
