Programme for Sitematch London 2017 announced
Wed 1st February 2017, 2:50 pm
A record 52 public sector landowners will attend the sixth Sitematch London at The Shard on 8 February 2017, with 220 delegates signed up to the event.
Organised by 3Fox International, the event at Aqua Shard, on the 31st floor of one of the capital’s most iconic modern buildings in London Bridge, will bring together private and public sector delegates to encourage development. Partners for the initiative include Atkins, Curtin&Co, HTA Design, U+I and Urban Exposure
Representatives from local authorities in and around London will engage with private sector developers and investors in pre-booked, “speed-date”-style meetings to discuss subjects ranging from regeneration and planning to public surplus land. They include executives from 27 out of 33 London boroughs.
All 324 meetings have been booked. Networking passes are still available.
“Sitematch has grown into a key property event,” said Eleanor Kelly, chief executive at host borough Southwark Council, who will give the opening speech at 9.20am, after the delegate registration at 9.
“It is a creative way for councils to meet with a range of prospective investors to discuss potential future projects. We are keen to meet with potential partners to help build the 11,000 council homes and range of community facilities that we are planning over the coming years.”
U+I’s deputy chief executive Richard Upton will give a keynote speech at 9.30.
“At a time when local authorities and the services they provide are facing increasing financial challenges, Sitematch provides a unique forum for local authorities and developers to come together to explore opportunities and ideas,” he said ahead of his speech.
“I believe partnerships forged between local authorities and developers can create practical solutions for local areas, release sustainable revenues and address some of the accommodation challenges we face. And I’ve got some thoughts on what that might look like.”
The first four sets of 15-minute meetings will take place between 9.40 and 11am. After a 20-minute break, meetings will resume at 11.20. After the eighth session of meetings, delegates will have lunch at 12.40pm. Meetings nine to twelve will run between 2 and 3.20pm, when the closing speech will mark the end of the event.
Inner Circle Consulting, Knight Frank, Montagu Evans and Willmott Dixon will take part in the event as advisers.
“For many years, Sitematch London has been the place you go each year to see key decision makers from London boroughs, who want to engage with developers and encourage inward investment,” said Sitematch veteran Daren Nathan, development director at Durkan.
“It’s an unusual and unique event that developers targeting London cannot afford to miss.”
