The London Borough of Waltham Forest is bringing a number of key opportunities to Sitematch London on 8 February.
The London Borough of Waltham Forest seeks to redevelop Juniper House – currently a council office – for both residential and commercial uses. The ground floor will be used for retail space, with potential for up to 86 homes on the upper floors. The scheme will also include a nursery.
Juniper House is a short walk from Walthamstow Central station, with fast tube connections to central London and Brixton via the Victoria line, and the City and Stansted Airport via Tottenham Hale. London Overground services run from Chingford with a direct link to Liverpool Street.
Phase two of Solum’s station development, which has been approved by the council, is set to transform the immediate area with new retail and leisure outlets. Improvement is being supported by the council’s ongoing programme to create safer pedestrian and cycling facilities and enhancement of public space. The completed first phase of the station development delivered investment of £20 million to the town centre.
Lea Bridge station sites
The council is promoting a cluster of three small sites around Lea Bridge station.
Following a sustained campaign by Waltham Forest Council, the station reopened in May 2016 after being closed for 31 years. It now provides a regular service between Tottenham Hale and Stratford and is expected to exceed the original estimate of 352,000 passengers in its first year of operation.
Redevelopment of the three sites will allow for at least 230 homes to be built, as well as some commercial and community use. The opportunity is set to come to market in early 2017.
The sites fall within Lea Valley Eastside area, and architect Allies & Morrison has been commissioned by the council to develop the masterplan, which will set out how 4,500 homes and 300,000sq m of business, commercial and community space will be delivered over 10 years.
The London Borough of Waltham forest will attend the next Sitematch London on 8 February 2017 at The Shard. To secure your meeting, contact Josie Brewer.
