Recent figures published by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) indicate more homes were completed during the last year than in the past six.
According to the findings, 125,110 new homes were completed between April 2014 and March 2015 – 11% more than the year before.
The figures also show an increase in activity where building work has begun on homes.
DCLG said that from April 2014 to March 2015, work started on 140,500 homes – 5% more than the previous year. In the first quarter of 2015, it is suggested that building work started on 40,000 homes – 31% more than in the same quarter a year earlier.
Housing minister, Brandon Lewis, said: "Housebuilding is at the heart of our plan to ensure the recovery reaches all parts of our country. We’re turning around an industry that was devastated and getting the country building again."
