Report: councils should make brownfield data transparent

Wed 27th May 2015, 9:50 am

A recently-published report argues that Londonís local authorities should be made to provide details on brownfield sites to the London Land Commission.

The report, by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), argues that the commission, announced earlier this year by Chancellor George Osborne, needs more powers to obtain all the information it needs.

Less than half of the councils provided these details to the HCA in 2012 when requested to do so.

The LCCI had submitted Freedom of Information requests to all London councils to provide brownfield site information – 15 Councils did not respond or did not have information available.
