Mayor of London Boris Johnson has launched the Old Oak and Park Royal Development corporation (OPDC).
The corporation will lead the regeneration of Old Oak Common in west London, which straddles the London borough borders of Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham. The aim is to deliver 24,000 homes and more than 55,000 jobs.
Proposals are already in place to build an HS2 and Crossrail station at Old Oak Common in 2026. The station will be the same size as Waterloo, servicing 250,000 passengers.
The OPDC aims to maximise the regeneration potential of Old Oak Common, as well as safeguarding and developing Park Royal as a strategic industrial location to attract long-term investment to the area.
The corporation will also charge a Community Infrastructure Levy.
