Irvine Sellar to speak at Sitematch
Fri 16th January 2015, 11:46 am
Founder and chairman of Sellar Property Group, Irvine Sellar, has been confirmed as the opening speaker at the industry event, Sitematch.
Sellar was responsible for developing The Shard – the venue for Sitematch on 10 February – and has had a long and successful career in property and other businesses, such as being the founder and owner of a fashion retail chain.
The announcement follows news that communities and local government secretary, Eric Pickles, will also make an address – ensuring this year’s line-up of speakers at Sitematch is the most prestigious to date.
Sellar is set to discuss why it is important for local authorities to engage with and maintain good relations with the private sector.
He said: "The forthcoming Sitematch event provides the ideal platform for the public and private sector to examine ways that vacant and underutilised land throughout Greater London can be unlocked to meet the needs of the capital’s rapidly expanding population.
"By working with local authorities and other public bodies, the private sector can provide the necessary investment and capital to meet future demand for homes, jobs and infrastructure through creative development.
"Only by bringing the public and private sector together in forums like this will London continue to grow and prosper by delivering sustainable development that satisfies the aspirations of its people."
Sitematch London is a property event organised by 3Fox International which launched in 2012, with Mayor of London Boris Johnson and the Department for Communities and Local Government providing consistent support over the years.
At the event, over 50 public sector organisations will attend, 35 of which will engage in short pre-booked speed-dating style meetings with private sector developers and investors. For more information contact Sophie Gosling on 020 7978 6840, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
