Peabody appoints new chair

Housing association Peabody has announced its new chair will be communities and local government secretary, Sir Bob Kerslake.

He will replace Christopher Strickland, who stepped down in December 2014.

Kerslake said: "It is a privilege to be joining such a distinguished organisation as Peabody and to be part of ensuring its legacy lives on as the organisation evolves."

Stephen Howlett, Peabody’s chief executive and member of the board, said: "Sir Bob has a wealth of experience and a commitment to affordable homes, great design, regeneration and community investment that will benefit Peabody and London in the years to come."

The Department for Communities and Local Government has announced Kerslake's replacement will be Melanie Dewas, currently head of the economic and domestic secretariat in the Cabinet Office, will start the role on 1 March 2015. Kerslake will take up his new post in June 2015.
