Met Police HQ sold for £370 million

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced New Scotland Yard has been sold for £370 million to the Abu Dhabi Financial Group.

The building was put up for sale in September 2014 for £250 million –  double the amount paid for the freehold in 2008.

A part of the proceeds will be used to invest in tablet computers and mobile devices for police officers.

The sale is part of an overhaul of the Met Police estate. So far 52 surplus properties have been sold, raising over £215 million.

Johnson said:  "The Met Police has a unique place in history and they need a home fit for the future, but police budgets are under real pressure.

"The sale of this under-used and outdated building means we can now not only protect that rich heritage, but also fund the new HQ and kit out bobbies with the latest mobile technology to secure the future of the force."

The Met Police will attend the next Sitematch London event on 10 February 2015. Join Sitematch to secure your meeting.
