Leaked government documents reveal house building decline

The government is exploring measures to boost housebuilding, after leaked documents revealed the number of homes being built is expected to decrease by four percent before the 2015 general election.
The documents were leaked to BBC Newsnight, and are marked by the Department for Communities and Local Government – figures expected to be officially announced three months before next year’s election.
According to the documents, the number of houses DCLG expects to build will drop from 133,650 to 128,000 in 2014/15.
The documents also state work has yet to start to build 350,000 new houses on 9,000 sites that have already received planning permission.
