The 0.38ha central Barking site is up for sale, with bids invited for a mixed-use leisure development.

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is seeking to dispose of the Abbey Sports Centre site in Barking town centre, following the completion of a brand new leisure centre next door.

The site is between the civic core focused around the town hall, Barking learning centre/library and health centre, and the residential Gascoigne area which is undergoing significant estate regeneration. It's within a seven minute walk to Barking Station with its rail (c2c and London Overground) and underground (District, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) services, and bus links to central London and Essex.

David Harley, group manager economic development at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, said: "Adjacent to a new £13 million leisure centre, the prominent site offers a superb opportunity for a leisure-led mixed-use development in Barking Town Centre which has superb accessibility and a growing population."

For more details, visit the site profile on the Sitematch London website.

Representatives of Barking and Dagenham council will attend the next Sitematch London event on 2 April 2014 at the Shard. Join Sitematch to book a meeting to discuss this site or other opportunities in Barking and Dagenham.
