Councils will get an extra 12 months to fund infrastructure projects through section 106 agreements, ministers have announced.
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has announced restrictions on local authorities’ ability to fund infrastructure projects through section 106 agreements will be pushed back until 1 April 2015.
This means councils get an extra year to implement a community infrastructure levy (CIL), which sets standardised charges for developers undertaking new schemes.
Responding to a consultation on CIL reforms, DCLG said that respondents “strongly supported the suggestion the extension of the deadline for restrictions on pooling section 106 contributions to April 2015”.
