Taxpayer 'could miss out on Royal Mail property proceeds'

Tue 22nd October 2013, 11:01 am

Questions have been raised over whether the Royal Mail's estate (valued at 1 billion) was realistically estimated before the privatization.

According to a report in Property Week, privatization raised £1.7 billion pounds for the government.

Yet it's estate might have been severely undervalued, according to shadow minister for postal affairs, Ian Murray.

Property Week believes a 13 acre Nine Elms site alone could raise in excess of £325 million.
