National Grid choses Berkeley to Develop Southall Gas Works

St. James, a subsidiary of the Berkeley Group has signed a development agreement with National Grid to redevelop a large mixed-use scheme on the current site of the Gas Works in Southall.

The project will consist of 3,750 new homes (30 per cent of which will be affordable homes), 525,000 sq feet of commercial floor space, a new primary school and areas of landscaped public realm and open amenity space. 

Boris Johnson said: "It is vital we utilise London’s brownfield sites to provide the homes needed for our growing city.

"This commitment by St. James Group, which will accelerate the delivery of 3,750 homes, is welcome news for the regeneration of the Southall Gas works site."

The development covers the boroughs of Hillingdon and Ealing.
