Deputy mayor approves massive Met Police sell-off

Fri 31st May 2013, 11:31 am

London's deputy mayor for policing and crime Stephen Greenhalgh has approved the disposal of 26 surplus properties owned by the Metropolitan Police.

As well as green-lighting the disposal, the deputy mayor's decision approves the marketing of another 10 sites.

In total, the 36 properties are expected to generate receipts of £87.9 million and save annual revenue costs up to £9.8 million.

The decision does not include the Scotland Yard headquarters in Victoria, the disposal of which was approved last year.

The 36 properties include police stations in Marleybone, Hackney and Highgate.

Marketing of a number of the sites will commence in due course. The Sitematch London website will provide more information when further details are available.
