Sitematch Scotland announced

Mon 13th May 2013, 9:20 am

Sitematch has launched a new event to promote development opportunities in Scotland's cities.

On 13 June, Scotland’s cities are coming to the London Euston Hilton hotel to present their best development opportunities to the capital’s developers.

Senior council officers will explain how:

  • The Scottish Government is supporting £3.4 billion of capital investment in 2013-14 and, during 2012, nine projects worth more than £600 million were finished and came into use;
  • The Financial Times says that $1.4 billion (Capex) of foreign direct investment (FDI) targeted 51 projects across Scotland’s seven cities last year;
  • Ernst & Young says that Scotland is the top performing region within the UK which is still Europe’s leading destination for FDI job creation;
  • Occupancy costs (per workstation) are typically 67% or more below London’s West End, with an attractive cultural, educational and lifestyle offer.

Following a series of short presentations by senior officers from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Inverness and Stirling, an invited group of developers and city teams will take part in “speed dating-style” one-to-one meetings.

The two-hour event is organised by 3Fox International working with the Scottish Cities Alliance.

Greg Ward, head of economic development at Edinburgh Council, said on behalf of the Scottish Cities Alliance: "We are delighted to be at Sitematch Scotland presenting the many development opportunities across our cities.

"As the London market continues to accelerate, developers are looking to the regions to offer a competitive alternative and we believe that the Scottish cities can add significant value to those wishing to expand their investment portfolio.

"This offer includes high profile developments such as Dundee's £1 billion Waterfront project and the creation of a £100 million business and life sciences hub at Inverness Campus."
