Hackney Council has published a preliminary draft community infrastructure charging schedule for a six week consultation period.

According to the schedule, residential developments would be charged at either £225, £90 or £60 per sq metre, depending on the location in the borough.

Office and retail development would be charged at respectively £74 and £65 per sq metre if located in the city fringe.

In all other locations in the borough both development types would not be charged.

Both large format retail developments and hotel developments would be charged at £65 throughout the borough.

The most expensive development type included in the proposed schedule would be student housing, costing £373 per sq metres.

All other development types are free of charge.
