Councils have approved six new neighbourhood forums to help shape development in London, with dozens more in the pipeline.
The Localism Act 2011 gives local communities the right to steer development in their area through neighbourhood plans, and permit developments through neighbourhood orders after being designated as a neighbourhood forum by the local planning authority.
Currently, according to new figures released by the Department of Communities and Local Government, six neighbourhood forums are active, in Highgate, Sudbury Town, Ealing Central, West Ealing, Norland and Hackbridge.
A further 21 organisations have submitted designation applications, with 33 organisations having expressed interest in submitting an application.
