Acton Town Hall deal follows Sitematch introduction

Ealing Council has selected its preferred developer for the redevelopment of land at Acton Town Hall – seven months after it met the developer at Sitematch London.
The council’s cabinet agreed on Tuesday to authorize negotiations over the sale of the site, which will become surplus to the council’s requirements because children and adult services across the borough will move into three newly created service centres in 2014.
The preferred developer, One Housing Group, was selected from a shortlist of bidders, and proposes to build 68 one- and two-bedroom flats on the site.
Lucy Taylor, assistant director of regeneration at the council, told Sitematch London: “Some of the people we met at Sitematch London were people who we would be talking to anyway but they used Sitematch as a cost-effective way to get some time with us to discuss how to move a particular project forward, at the same time as meeting a lot of other councils.”
“Sitematch enabled us to have initial conversations with several companies that had not done business in Ealing before. Some of them went on to bid for the Acton Town Hall project, and one of them has now been selected to purchase and develop the building.”
The cabinet authorised council officers to negotiate with the housing provider with a view to granting it a 250 year lease on the site.
